Russia’s pay-TV market bounced back in the third quarter, growing by 190,000 subscribers.
Quoting preliminary figures from Telecom Daily, Kommersant reports that this was its best result of the year and brought the total number of pay-TV subscribers in the country to 43.755 million.
Furthermore, ARPU rose from R180 (€2.53) in the second to R185 in the third quarter.
The main reasons for the increase in the number of subscribers were the end of an advertising campaign on the transition to digital terrestrial broadcasting, which offers viewers 20 free TV channels, and the marketing activity of MTS, which is now the third leading provider of pay-TV services in the country.
