The Polish public broadcaster TVP plans to make number of changes to its thematic channels later this month.
Satkurier reports that they will come into effect on the night of October 22/23 and see TVP Kultura become available in HD.
Furthermore, it will be multicast, allowing cable and IPTV operators to offer the service in both HD and SD versions.
TVP also plans to withdraw SD versions of its proprietary channels TVP1, TVP2 and TVP Kultura for cable and IPTV operators at the end of November.
In the DTT sphere, TVP Kultura will become available as am HD service on MUX-8, where it is currently located. At the same time, it will be withdrawn for MUX-3.
Meanwhile, TVP Sport will be withdrawn from MUX-8 but remain on MUX-3, as an HD channel.
Following the changes, MUX-8 will carry TVP Kultura HD and TVP Rozrywka, along with the privately owned channels Metro, Nowa TV, Telewizja WP and Zoom TV.
At the same time, MUX-3 will distribute the TVP channels TVP1 HD, TVP2 HD, TVP3, TVP Historia, TVP Info HD and TVP Sport HD.
