The CEO of Eutelsat Communications has recognised the “resilience of core Broadcast” in another tricky quarter for video.
The company says its strategy has enabled it to meet its financial objectives, despite a challenged operating environment.
“The past year was notable once again for the resilience of core Broadcast, supported by rising channel count and HD penetration,” said Rodolphe Belmer Chief Executive Officer, Eutelsat Communications.
In its full year results, Eutelsat reported revenues of €1,321 million, down 3.1% on a like-for-like basis.
Video was down 2.3% at €864.2 million. Core Broadcast revenues were broadly unchanged excluding the impact of the lower contribution of Fransat.
At 30 June 2019, the total number of channels broadcast by Eutelsat satellites stood at 7,092 up 2.4% year-on-year. HD penetration continued to increase, standing at 1,551 channels versus 1,455 a year earlier.
