Irdeto has signed an agreement with the Ukrainian DTT platform operator Zeonbud.
Under its, terms it will encrypt satellite channels distributed in Ukraine via Astra 4A from this October.
Commenting on the development, Yaroslav Pakholchuk, executive director and pay-TV director at Zeonbud’s parent company 1+1 Media, said: “This step is one of the critical issues in the satellite encoding process, which confirms the inalienable intentions of all the participants of the domestic media market, including 1 + 1 Media, regarding the joint development of the pay–TV market in Ukraine. The encoding of a transport satellite signal will protect it from unlawful interference by offenders, while Ukrainian media groups will be able to continue the phased implementation of the encoding project plan”.
