Lithuanian commercial broadcasters showed less Russian TV content in 2018 than the previous year.
At the same time, according to the Radio and Television Commission of Lithuania (LRTK), only one of five leading broadcasters monitored during a one-week period showed more European productions than in 2017.
Summarising the findings of its study, the regulator says that foreign content from the US was the most popular, followed by that from Russia.
However, in the latter case the five broadcasters – TV3, TV6, LNK, BTV and Lrytas.TV – showed 75 hours and 6 minutes, as opposed to 95 hours and 33 minutes in 2018.
In fact, LNK showed no Russian content during the test week in 2018.
Meanwhile, only one broadcaster (Lrytas.TV) allocated more than half of its airtime to European content, with the other four devoting less than in 2017.
LRTK nevertheless notes that the law does not fix quotas for European content.
