Chris Dziadul Reports: NEM 2019 preview

June 7, 2019 09.37 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

New Europe Market (NEM) has in the space of only a handful of years developed into one of the most important industry events in Central and Eastern Europe.

Broadband TV News is proud to be associated with it and will again be present at this year’s edition, taking place in Dubrovnik on June 10-13 inclusive. The panel discussion we will moderate will be entitled On Demand Platform and TV Channels – Mutually Exclusive or a Great Combination? and feature key executives from Viacom International Networks (VIMN), NBCUniversal Networks, BBC Studios, AMC Networks International and Viasat World.

It will be the first of four panels at NEM on Wednesday, June 12, with the others addressing such issues as TV channels winning back young viewers that got away; the current state of play of soap operas; and pay-TV operators launching OTT services.

Meanwhile, Tuesday, June 11, the first of the two full days of the show, will feature three panel discussions. The first will look at the effectiveness of the move towards more personalised customer experience and UI and the second who holds the future of sports in CEE. The third panel will examine the effectiveness of free trials on customer retention.
On Thursday, June 13, the only panel will cover the challenges of selling local productions in the European market.

Alongside these panels NEM will also include both presentations and Q&As. The standout ones will arguably be an interview with Pavel Stanchev, the new CEO of the Hungarian national commercial broadcaster TV2, and presentations on Epic Drama and Timeless Drama Channel.

Above all else, NEM is a networking event and as such well worth attending for all those interested in the TV industry in Central and Eastern Europe.

Further details about NEM can be found through this link.
