Poland’s Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) has expressed objections to the proposed takeover of Multimedia Polska by Vectra, the county’s third and second largest cable operators respectively.
In a statement, it quotes its VP Michal Holeksa as saying that the takeover could lead to the restriction of competition in two markets, namely access to pay-TV services in 21 cities and fixed internet in 29 cities.
Its objections have now been presented to Vectra, which has 14 days to respond, though the period may be extended for a further two weeks.
As previously reported by Broadband TV News, Vectra filed a notification with the UOKiK last August notifying it of its intention to become the sole owner of Multimedia Polska.
