US financial investor KKR continues its shopping tour in the German TV production market.
In conjunction with Atwater Capital, KKR has agreed to buy production company i&u TV from celebrity German TV show host Günther Jauch. Financial details were not disclosed.
Together with Tele München Gruppe and RTL subsidiary Universum Film, which were recently taken over, KKR intends to merge the acquisitions into an independent content house. Media manager Fred Kogel will head the venture as CEO.
Jauch will continue to be available to i&u for several years in front of and behind the camera.
The newly created group will acquire, produce and distribute movies, series and TV shows to cinemas, TV broadcasters and digital platforms.
