The Romanian regulator ANCOM issued fines totalling RON2,304,500 (€484,138 ) to providers of electronic communications services in 2018.
Twenty six of these, totalling RON240,000, were to companies operating TV and radio broadcasting services.
These were mainly for the non-observance of technical data, parameters or conditions contained in technical permits. Seven of the 26, amounting to RON165,000, were for non-observance of coverage obligations for radio frequencies in the digital terrestrial system.
Meanwhile, cable operators were issued with 33 fines totalling RON237,500, while nine fines totalling RON72,000 were issued to radiocommunication operators.
ANCOM carried out one of its biggest-ever monitoring campaigns in 2018, undertaking around 4,000 controls on providers of electronic communications and postal services.
