Spain ended the third quarter of 2018 with 6.9 million subscribers to pay-TV services, according to the latest data published by the regulator CNMC. This was 7.4% more than in the same period last year.
The biggest growth was seen in customers using IP technology to receive services (+745,000 year-on-year), while both cable and DTH subscriber numbers fell.
CNMC also notes that the total number of quadruple and quintuple packages in the country stood at 12.1 million as of September 30, 2018.
This was 645,000 more than a year earlier, with quintuple packages accounting for almost all the growth.
Furthermore, there were 14.8 million fixed broadband connections, of which 10.6 million, or 1.7 million more than a year earlier, had contracted speeds of 30Mbps or higher.
Nearly two-thirds (62.5%) of the latter had a contracted speed of 100Mbps or more.
