Kosovo Telecom is already attracting interest from four international companies prior to a bidding contest having been launched.
According to Balkan Insight, quoting Kosovo’s Ministry of Economic Development, speaking to BIRN, the companies in question – A1 Telekom Austria, Orange, Rockaway Capital 1 PPF Group and Artillery One – have all submitted requests about the privatisation.
It adds, however, that as a precondition prior to its sale the telco will have to be restructured with the help of the EBRD.
Balkan Insight notes that Artillery One is in pole position to buy a 75% stake in Kosovo Telecom, though it insists on exclusivity.
Although Kosovo Telecom was the most profitable company in Kosovo prior to 2010, its fortunes have since declined sharply due to lack of investment.
