The Ukrainian broadcaster 1+1 Media has announced the first delivery of equipment for the reception of encrypted satellite signals.
In a statement, it says that in March it was the first national media group in the country to sign an agreement on the supply of such receivers, which will be required once DTH signals are encrypted in Q2 2019.
It adds that together with other media groups it is working with the manufacturer Strong and the first delivery amounts to 45,000 units.
As of December 12, the receivers can be purchased in most Ukrainian wholesale and retail outlets, on the internet and through the official websites of satellite TV operators.
In particular, the operator Viasat will sell the receivers for the recommended price of UAH1,099 (€34.6) per unit.
Viasat will also offer a special package of national TV channels that will cost viewers UAH29 a month to receive.
