Following complaints by Dutch cabler VodafoneZiggo, a cybercrime team of the Midden-Nederland police arrested two men on suspicion of card sharing, a form of piracy in which a legitimate TV subscription is shared unauthorised via the Internet
It concerns a 43-year-old man from De Meern and a 48-year-old man from Nieuwegein, according to the police on Wednesday. Two servers were seized during house searches in the cities of Zeist and De Meern.
The case started to roll after telecom company VodafoneZiggo had reported the incident. The suspects probably had years of commercial, criminal cooperation, in which they sold Ziggo subscriptions to customers at a reduced rate. They were said to are serving more than a thousand customers. They are suspected of computer hacking and scams.
