Games consoles were once seen as a route for OTT services into the living room, but now Wii is preparing to switch off the light.
Services including Netflix, Amazon Prime and the BBC iPlayer will stop working on the Wii from January 30, 2019.
Netflix customers have already begun to receive email notices warning them of the change and the streamer has also posted a notice on its website.
“We hope you’ll soon enjoy an even better Netflix experience with additional features on a supported device. Please visit netflix.com/wii for our device list.”
The 12 year-old gaming console has also made its own announcement, saying that its Wii Shop Channel.
