DC Global Media Innovator going in the fourth round

September 21, 2018 15.00 Europe/London By Robert Briel

The Global Media Innovator 2018 (GMI) is going into its fourth round and will be awarded on the Diplomatic Council Gala early next year in Frankfurt.

The Diplomatic Council is a global think tank, business network and charity foundation in special consultative status with the United Nations.
The Global Media Innovator recognises the company that has the greatest influence on the advancement of the digital world society. The honoree is carefully selected by a top-class Global Leadership Board made up of eight international and independent media and IT experts. Applications cannot be submitted for the Innovator; however, the Board takes into consideration innovations across the entire industry before the winner is determined.

The 4th round board again consists of the same high standing members from around the globe as in the previous year: Nigerian TV expert Ijeoma Onah; Dato’ Ng Wan Peng, COO Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation, MDEC (Malaysia; Moeed Ahmad, Head of Incubation & Innovation Group at Al Jazeera Media Network (Doha); Blair Westlake, Principal Media Squareup (Seattle); Ian Wightman, VP Research and Operations at IHS Markit Inc. (Austin); Ed Hall, Managing Partner Expert Media Partners (London); Robin Eckermann, Eckermann Associates (Canberra) und Jo Groebel, Deutsches Digital Institut (DDI), Berlin. In the event the Board members cannot agree on the winner, the final decision is taken by Ambassador Buddhi K. Athauda, Founding President of the Diplomatic Council.

The Global Media Innovator was launched 2016 and honored the British company V-Nova for a revolutionary technology to transmit huge data volumes through existing data pipes. Santa Monica based Emblematic Group, a pioneer in adopting Virtual-, Augmented- and Mixed Realty for documentary films was honored in 2017. Last year’s honoree was London based iocono Holdings for its groundbreaking real time advertising software suit RTAd.

Dieter Brockmeyer, Chairman of DC Global Media Forum explains: ”I am very delighted to be working with the same experts of last year’s Board. Our aspiration is to have a global and comprehensive perspective, which is fully met with such a diverse and skilled Board. The even stronger feedback compared to the previous years we received this year proves we are on the right track.”
