Nordic OTT football channel to launch with LaLiga and Serie A

August 16, 2018 11.07 Europe/London By Julian Clover

A new OTT football channel is launching in Scandinavia backed by sports agency IMG.

Strive has secured exclusive rights to Spain’s LaLiga and Italy’s Serie A, shutting out the linear broadcasters. The Nordic countries are already turning away from traditional broadcasting. According to media consultancy Mediavision online accounts for 23% of the Swedish commercial TV market.

“This is an excellent opportunity for us to provide the very best content to a mature digital and well-established market. We look forward to building the brand Strive and giving our customers fantastic soccer experiences at a competitive price in the Scandinavian market,” said Chris Catling, president of IMG Media OTT services.

Strive will launch on Friday (August 17) with an initial free period before levying a monthly NOK 79 (€8.30) per month or NOK 499 a year.

IMG plans to add further sports to its roster.

Strive is being produced from IMG’s production base in Stockley Park, London.
