The CME stations TV Nova and TV Markiza have won a further legal victory in their dispute with M7 Group, which operates the DTH platform Skylink in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
In a statement, TV Nova says that the District Court in Bratislava has issued two preliminary measures against M7 Group in connection with the unauthorised distribution of the FTA channels TV Nova in Slovakia and TV Markiza in the Czech Republic.
As in the case of the Municipal Court in Prague, the District Court in Bratislava decided that M7 Group is required to block access to TV Nova’s TV programmes with decoding cards that enable users to access Skylink’s content sin Slovakia.
At the same time, M7 Group may not offer and sell decoder cards in Slovakia that allow access to TV Nova’s FTA channels.
There is also a similar precautionary measure imposed on M7 Group restricting access to TV Markiza in the Czech Republic.
Commenting on the lastest development, Stepan Peichl, director TV Nova’s legal section, said: “The Slovak court has also banned Skylink from unauthorised distribution and access to our channels abroad. It is logical that if such an infringement continues to occur, we will consistently enforce this ban”.
