German media group Freenet recorded increasing customer figures for its TV offerings Freenet TV and waipu.tv in Q2 2018.
Launched via DVB-T2 and distributed on Astra (19.2° East) since March 2018, the commercial TV channel platform Freenet TV reached a total of 1.14 million customers on June 30, 2018. At the end of 2017, there were 975,000 customers.
Freenet aims to reach at least 1.2 million customers with Freenet TV via DVB-T2 and DTH satellite by the end of 2018.
Internet TV platform waipu.tv grew from 133,100 subscribers in Q1 2018 to 174,300 subscribers in Q2 2018. Waipu.tv now has a total of 824,000 registered customers. A year ago (June 30, 2017) there were only 255,300 registered customers.
By the end of 2018 Freenet expects over 250,000 paying and over one million registered customers at waipu.tv.
Freenet’s revenues in the areas of TV and media rose from €74.7 million in Q2 2017 to €77.3 million in Q2 2018.
