Polish utility company enters TV market

August 6, 2018 10.59 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Energa has become the first utility company in Poland to also offer its customers TV services.

According to the company, it has from the beginning of this month operated a service known as ‘TV there where you are” in which users can access 70 channels on their smartphones via the online platform WP Pilot. The service can also be accessed on PCs, Android TV, tablets and laptops.

Energa’s offer consists of two packages, namely Prestige and Prestige Plus. The former provides 62 channels, of which 41 are in HD, and the latter 70, of which 46 are in HD. Prestige Plus includes channels from Eleven Sports.

Commenting on the development, Dariusz Chrzanowski, VP Energa Obrót, said: “Our offer ‘TV there where you are” is the first such product on the Polish market. Mobile devices are one of the most convenient ways for consuming video content, whose popularity is growing very dynamically. The 70 most popular stations, including sports and guide packages at an attractive price, are an interesting proposition for a very wide range of clients. An additional advantage is the lack of assembly costs, installation or activation of the package. Television follows you – it is exactly where you are. All you need is internet access”.

Paulina Górska, the director of WP Pilot, added: “We are happy to cooperate with such an important partner as Energa Obrot. The sale of electricity together with television content is a response to the needs of consumers. WP Pilot allows you to deliver the most attractive programmes regardless of the device used and the place where you are. Thanks to this, we meet the expectations of full mobility and flexibility in watching television”.

Energa is one of the top four utility companies in Poland and one of the third largest suppliers of electricity.
