Gazprom Media and the Russian Premier League (RPL) have announced to launch of a new football channel named Match Premier.
Speaking in a presentation in Moscow in which he summarised the broadcast results for the 2018 World Cup in the digital environment and the channel Match TV, Dmitry Chernyshenko, the head of Gazprom Media, said: “The content of the TV channel and the broadcast of the games collected almost 184 million views on the internet, the number of unique users of digital sites of Match TV doubled during the World Cup and reached a record figure of 28.1 million – this is the potential with which we are entering a new level of cooperation with the RPL.
“We have very ambitious plans – by 2020 we want to almost triple the number of subscribers of our paid service”.
Match Premier will launch this Saturday (July 28) and will be available through the same button as the channel Our Football, with the cost being the same R219 (€3) a month. Ad free, it will target a wide viewership, offering all 240 matches of the RPL 2018/19 season live. In addition, it will cover the Russian Cup, RPL friendly games and review major European football leagues.
Broadband TV News notes that leading platform such as NTV-Plus and Akado have already announce the addition of Match Premier to their line-ups.
