More than one million Sky customers in Germany and Austria now use the Sky Q multimedia platform.
Since its launch on May 2, 2018, all subscribers with a Sky+ Pro set-top-box have gradually received the Sky Q upgrade automatically and free of charge. Many new customers have also opted for Sky Q, according to pay-TV broadcaster Sky Deutschland.
The new platform includes linear TV channels, on-demand content, Ultra HD/4K, apps such as the catch-up services from public broadcasters ARD and ZDF and new functions such as Restart, Autoplay and Continue Watching.
As the next steps, Sky Deutschland wants to introduce voice control via the Sky Q remote control and integrate Netflix as an app.
