Axel Schrüfer is the new editor-in-chief digital and director digital of German sports broadcaster Sport1.
The 46-year-old comes from rtv media group, where he was responsible for the development of digital content offerings. Previously, Schrüfer was editor-in-chief of t-online.de at Ströer Digital Publishing until March 2017.
In his new function, Schrüfer is responsible for the development of existing and new digital offerings of Sport1 in the areas of online, mobile and social media. These include online platform Sport1.de, the news and video apps, football app iM Football, the YouTube and social media channels as well as the gaming and eSports offerings.
Together with editor-in-chief Dirc Seemann, Schrüfer is also responsible for connecting editorial work across all TV and digital platforms.
