The Spanish regulator CNMC has fined Mediaset a total of €1.3 million for broadcasting content deemed to be inappropriate for minors.
In a statement, CNMC says its action relates to several episodes of the programme Sálvame, shown on the channel Telecinco in January and February this year, that were found to in contravention of articles 7.2 and 7.6 of the General Audiovisual Communication Law (LGCA).
The CNMC has imposed fines of €1,094,006 and €207,302 on Mediaset for the infractions and the broadcaster has the right to lodge an appeal in the National High Court within two months of being notified of the regulator’s decision.
