French public. broadcaster France Télévisions is forced to drop two DTT channels, France 4 and France Ô, in order to meet budget cuts.
France Télévisions will have to save €160 million by 2022, Radio France €20 million, and Arte and INA a further €10 million, bringing the total cuts on public broadcasting to €190 million.
According to Prime Minister, Edouard Philippe, the roadmap drawn up by the Minister of Culture, Françoise Nyssen, at the beginning of June for new investments in media – €560 million investment in creation, €150 million in the digital offer as well as a tripled budget for regional programming on France 3 and synergies with France Bleu – is maintained.
The two public channels, France 4 and France Ô, will have to leave the French DTT network, which they call TNT, by 2020.
