The Russian telco MTS, working with Huawei, will create a single multimedia platform for all its TV services by the end of 2019.
According to Telecom Daily, a memorandum between the parties was signed at last week’s St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
It adds that by migrating all its TV services – mobile, cable, satellite TV and IPTV – into the single platform, MTS will be able to double the number of HD and Ultra HD channe and triple the number of films and series it offers its customers within five years.
To create the platform, MTS and Huawei will create a team comprised of experts from both companies.
They will work on the project for two years, after which experts from MTS will continue to develop the platform on their own.
