The number of Netflix users in Spain tripled in 2017, reaching almost 1.5 million at the end of the year.
This, according to the regulator CNMC, placed it in second place in terms of the most popular online paid-for services behind Movistar, Yomvi (or Movistar+ in devices), which was accessed in 2.16 million households, or almost twice as many as a year earlier.
Movistar was viewed in 13.5% of internet households and Netflix in 9.1%, with the next most popular services being Vodafone TV online (5.9%) and Amazon Prime Video (3.5%).
As reported by Broadband TV News, Netflix has also just reached a global agreement with Telefónica.
All told, three out of 10 internet households in Spain now consume paid online audiovisual content.
People aged between 16-24 consume more audiovisual content through mobile than TV.
Eight out of 10 users access their terminal several times a day to communicate through OTT applications and 36% to update their social networks.
Although Facebook is the preferred social network (61%), it has lost almost four percentage points in a year.
