Player reaches Polish OTT top spot

TVN’s player is now the most popular OTT service in Poland both in terms of user numbers and average time spent on the platform.

It is also the most often used app in the country.

According to data produced by Gemius/PBI, in March player had 4 million real users in total for three platforms – the player.pl website, vod.pl/player-promocja and the mobile app. As a result, it ranked first among OTT service in Poland watched by internet users.

Individual player platforms are also leaders in their respective categories. The player.pl website had 3.5 million regular visitors who spent on average over 5 hours and 23 minutes on the portal.
This made player.pl the most engaging OTT service in Poland. Meanwhile, the player mobile app had almost a million users.
Furthermore, player.pl is the most frequently chosen legal platform by Millennials. In March, the portal was visited by almost 1.6 million real users aged 15-34, who spent an average of over 6 and a half hours on the website.

Maciej Maciejowski, director of content distribution and business development division/member of the management board of TVN, said: “Our goal is to give users the freedom of accessing the best TV content anywhere, anytime and on any screen. The OTT market is rapidly growing, therefore we are constantly investing in player’s offering and the technological solutions powering the service. The results show that these efforts are strongly appreciated by our fans”.

Separately, TVN has announced that player is now available on LG TV sets. Furthermore, TVN now has one million subscribers on YouTube.
