Poland’s Orange enhances 4K offer

April 2, 2018 09.33 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Orange TV viewers in Poland can now watch selected 4K content from Discovery on an SVOD basis.

Commenting on the development, Jean-François Fallacher, president of Orange Polska, said: “Orange was the first nationwide operator to offer its clients a decoder enabling 4K signal reception along with programmes in this quality. We are constantly working with partners to be able to offer our clients more and more interesting, diverse and engaging content. Recently Orange TV viewers could see the first Formula 1 race broadcast in 4K in Poland. Today, we are expanding our library of content in this quality with Discovery productions – documentary and educational films. We start from more than 20 positions and plan to make dozens more available during the year”.

The Polish incumbent notes that the first 4K channel it made available was Stingray Festival 4K. It is currently offered to viewers in Orange TV’s Optimalny package.

Orange TV also offer selected games from LaLiga Santander and Bundesliga, along with Formula 1, on Eleven Sports 4K. Up until the end of May this channel will only be available to Orange TV IPTV viewers, in the Bogaty an Maksymalny packages.

In addition, Orange was the first operator in the Polish market to offer Netflix in 4K. It has been available on Orange TV via the Samsung ICU 100 4UHD receiver since February 2017.
