Eurosport 1 HD will be available unencrypted and free-of-charge to DTT households across Germany on the commercial broadcaster platform Freenet TV during the Olympic Winter Games from February 9-25, 2018.
Discovery Networks Deutschland and Freenet, a subsidiary of German transmitter network operator Media Broadcast, announced this agreement today.
Eurosport 1 HD will report 24 hours per day from the competitions in PyeongChang in Full HD quality. The channel is normally encrypted and can be received as part of Freenet TV for €5.75 per month.
“Terrestrial reception via DVB-T2 plays a particularly important role in urban areas,” said Thomas Bichlmeir, Director of Distribution & Commercial Strategy at Discovery Networks Deutschland. “By making Eurosport 1 freely available together with Freenet TV, we will reach even more fans to whom we can present the Olympic Winter Games 2018 in PyeongChang in the best possible quality.”
Eurosport 1 HD can also be received unencrypted and free of charge on Unitymedia’s cable network during the Olympic Winter Games.
