Orange is planning to launch a DTH platform in Slovakia, perhaps as soon as Q2 this year.
Zive reports that while the company has neither confirmed or denied this, its communications manager Tomas Palovsky said it is closely watching the TV market as its is one of Orange’s strategic priorities.
He added that the company plans to strengthen its digital TV activities, whether in terns of content or availability, this year.
Unnamed sources have told Zive that Orange is likely to launch the platform at some stage this year.
Orange is currently present in Slovakia’s IPTV market and also its largest mobile operator.
However, its new DTH service will be entering a sector already served by a large number of offers.
They include Skylink, Slovak Telekom’s Digi TV and Magio Sat, freeSAT, Antik Sat, Flix TV and Pantelio.
What is more, Orange has for some time provided a alternative DTH service via Skylink.
Pay-TV penetration in Slovakia stands at around 95%.
