Zattoo customers can now use the internet TV service in other EU countries following the new EU regulation enabling cross-border content portability.
To enable streaming without borders, internet users have register for a Zattoo account in their home country before the start of the journey and sign up for a Premium subscription.
“For our users, the new regulation enabling EU-wide streaming is a great start into the new year,” said Jörg Meyer, Chief Officer Content & Consumer at Zattoo. “TV streaming is no longer subject to any digital borders within the EU. Streaming, thus, offers considerable advantages over conventional TV reception methods.”
“Almost everyone has a mobile phone or tablet while on holiday, but cable or satellite TV is not that easy to take with you on vacation,” added Meyer. “We assume that a major event such as the Football World Cup will be a reason to opt for TV streaming for many users while on holiday.”
The EU content portability regulation removing geo-blocking is introduced across all EU countries this year and enables subscription fee based digital services to be used just like at home during temporary stays in other EU countries.
