Inea sale to Macquarie wins approval

January 10, 2018 10.25 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Poland’s Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) has approved the sale of the cable operator Inea to Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund 5 (MEIF5).

As previously reported by Broadband TV News, the sale of Warburg Pincus’s stake in Inea to MEIF5 for an undisclosed fee was first announced at the beginning of December last year.

Poznan-based Inea is the largest cable operator in the Wielkopolska region of western Poland and also one of the largest in the country as a whole.

Commenting on the development, Janusz Kosinski, president of the management board and co-founder of Inea, said: “we are very pleased with the UOKIK’s quick decision. We hope that the entire transaction related to the acquisition of the Inea group will be completed within a month. I believe that our partnership with MIRA (Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets) will be as consistent and effective as the previous one with Warburg Pincus and allow the company to double its results”.
