A meeting of the DCMS committee has endorsed Terry Burns as the new chair of media regulator Ofcom.
The committee consists of a number of MPs from all parties.
Lord Burns, a former chair of Channel 4, will replace Dame Patricia Hodgson in January 2018.
Ofcom’s brief covers television, radio and video-on-demand sectors, fixed-line telecoms, mobiles and postal services as well as frequency issues for wireless devices.
Lord Burns is a senior Adviser to Banco Santander and a non-executive member of the Office for Budget Responsibility. He is also a member of the House of Lords Economic Affairs Select Committee and Chairman of the Lord Speaker’s Committee on the Size of the House.
