Moldova’s fixed internet market grew by 12.1% in value in the year to September 30.
According to data published by the regulator ANRCETI, it amounted to MDL923 million (€44.7 million) as of the end of Q3, or MDL99.3 million than in the same period last year.
Meanwhile, ARPU rose by around 7% to MDL181.1 and the number of fixed-line customers stood at over 574,100 (+2.9%) as of the end of Q3. FTTx remained the dominant technology, providing services to 335,700 (+6.1%) customers, or 58.5% of the total.
DOCSIS, on the other hand, provided services to 40,700 (+4.4%) and xDSL to 195,800 (-2.9%) customers.
Over half (51.2%) of customers used services offering download speeds of between 30-100Mbps, while 6.9% opted for 100Mbps+.
There were a total of 79 providers of fixed-line services, with the market leaders, in revenue terms, being Moldtelecom (63.2%), Starnet Solutions (23.4%) and Sun Communications (5.1%).
