Telefónica’s Movistar will incorporate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its pay-TV service from next year.
El Economista reports that it will specifically add the functionalities of Aura and put them at the service of subscribers, who will be able to manage their digital experience in an increasingly intuitive way. Rather than using a remote, they will be able to interact through their voice.
It adds that Movistar will also facilitate online purchases within the platfrom, allowing viewers to buy a product immediately without intermediaries and through the TV itself.
El Economista says that Movistar’s Interactive Live TV will allow viewers to capture video and share them instantly with their contacts without the need for a smartphone, tablet or PC. 4K technology will be incorporated into new decoders that it will introduce next April and its interactive TV service will also include personalised advertsting and allow for voting in real time.
Broadband TV News notes that Telefónica first introduced Aura, which it described as its “4th transformative platform project”, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona earlier this year.
