HBO GO has been launched as a standalone offer in four Central and East European markets.
According to HBO Europe, it is now available to viewers online in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania on a monthly subscription basis.
Besides HBO original content and popular classic series, it is also offering local programming produced by HBO Europe, as well as a large selection of critically acclaimed documentaries. The HBO Go streaming service can be received on PCs, smartphones, tablets, Samsung Smart TV, PlayStation, Apple TV and Chromecast.
Each HBO Go subscriber may add up to five devices and use two concurrent streams at the same time.
All new subscribers who choose this option will have a one-month free trial for the premium content offered by HBO GO, with the subscription fee being paid via credit card provided while registering.
HBO Europe notes that the direct to consumer offering is in addition to the already established HBO channels and services in Central European territories. HBO GO will continue to be available through local distribution partners with TV and internet packages.
Commenting on the launch, Hervé Payan, CEO HBO Europe, said: “HBO GO via affiliates is already a huge success in Central Europe, but our goal is to make it even easier for the many series lovers in these countries to access HBO’s premium content. The launch of HBO GO direct to consumers in Central Europe is a natural step for us after successful launches of HBO streaming services in Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland”.
