Russia’s leading pay-TV operator Tricolor TV has launched a non-linear service named ‘Best on TV’.
Currently operating in test mode and available free of charge to Tricolor TV subscribers, it employs a unique selection mechanism that categorises and records TV content. This is then made available to watch at a time viewers find convenient.
Commenting on ‘Best on TV’, Andrei Kholodny, deputy DG for the development of non-linear services at Tricolor TV, said: “We want to make TV viewing even more comfortable, flexible and personalised. “Best on TV” is developed in the trend of European non-linear content discovery services, and allows subscribers to not only browse television broadcasts at any convenient time, but also create their own library of interesting videos. While in test mode, it will be available to subscribers free of charge. However, even now we can say that the service has great potential both in terms of its further development and expansion of functionality, and monetisation.”
