Tierwelt live, a new video-on-demand-service (VOD) covering nature, animals and habitat, has launched in Germany.
Internet users in Germany, Austria and Switzerland can initially access around 250 movies on www.tierwelt-live.de, from local productions to BBC programmes. The line-up will be constantly expanded.
The VOD service was developed by Doclights, a subsidiary of Studio Hamburg and ZDF Enterprises specialising in the production of animal documentaries, and schnee von morgen webTV.
Doclights has been operating smart TV app Tierwelt live as a trial since 2015.
The VOD service will be financed by commercials and co-operations and free of charge for users. Besides the website, it will soon also become accessible as apps for iOS and Android devices. On smart TV sets, the app is available on all new models from Samsung, LG, Philips and Panasonic.
