The Russian DTH platform Tricolor TV has blocked more than 3,500 pirate sites in the last three and half years.
In a summary of its anti-piracy activities, it says that just in the first half of this year it has blocked over 520 sites, with 10 criminal and 10 administrative cases being initiated.
All told, law enforcement officers seized over 90 pieces of pirated equipment, including 62 pirate receivers, 23 smart cards, three PCs, two programmers, cryptomodules and other equipment.
Of the 10 criminal cases opened in Russia and CIS countries, four were brought to court and three resulted in convictions.
Of the 18 criminal cases initiated in 2016, a total of 18, including four in CIS countries, were in the preliminary stage of being investigated in H1 this year.
Tricolor TV also notes that it also continues to work to stop violations of copyright and related rights by cable and IPTV operators. In the first half of this year inspections were carried out on 11, one of which stioped its illegal actions.
