German Inexio to launch IPTV platform QUiX TV

August 13, 2017 22.49 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

German fibre-optic network operator Inexio wants to launch a multiscreen IPTV platform in autumn 2017, expanding its internet and telephony service into a triple play package.

QUiX TV will contain around 100 TV channels – of which 45 will be offered in HD quality – as well as 75 radio stations and 50 nonstop music channels, the company announced in its corporate magazine Offline (issue 1/2017).

Time-shifted television, replay TV and the possibility to save programmes on the hard-disc recorder will also be offered. With the PVR that will act as the IPTV platform’s central hub, several channels can be recorded at the same time. The storage capacity amounts to up to 1,000 hours.

The platform will also provide direct access to the largest video-on-demand services and video portals such as maxdome or YouTube. Through the integrated mobile solution IPTV Go, viewers will be able to access the TV offer on the tablet, smartphone and a further TV set in their household.

The largest shareholder of Inexio is Warburg Pincus, a private equity investor where René Obermann, the former CEO of Deutsche Telekom, is a managing director and partner.
