Dutch Lumière launches movie and series store

June 26, 2017 15.58 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Dutch distributor Lumière is launching Lumiereseries.com, an online video store for EST, electronic sell-through, for its movies and TV series.

The company specialises in Scandinavian and international crime thrillers and so far has distributed the movies and series on DVDs and Blu-ray discs. Answering to changing consumer habits in the Netherlands, Lumière has now added EST to its portfolio.

At the same time as launching the online store, Lumière is also releasing a special app, both for iOS and Android, to make the content available. The app also has Chromecast and Airplay functionality, so people can stream the content they bought to their regular TV screen. At the moment, all content can be seen while the buyer is in the Netherlands or Belgium, but soon access rights will be international.

At the moment, some 20 series with a total of 34 seasons are available, or 291 episodes, are available to buy, including Follow the Money, Dicte, Nobel, The Young Pope, Thicker than Water, The Fall, Mammon, Acquitted, Midnight Sun, Trapped, Occupied, The Legacy, Gomorra, Springvloed, 1992, The Team, The Bridge, The Code, Beck and Rebecka Martinsson. The distributor will add new titles every month and will eventually offer its whole catalogue for purchase online.

As a promotional tool the first 20 minutes of the first eposide of every series is available free-to-view.
