German platform operator Media Broadcast will be able to roll out a local DVB-T2 package with up to eight HD channels in Hamburg.
Local media authority MA HSH decided at its latest meeting to allocate the DTT capacity and the platform operation licence to Media Broadcast for ten years.
The nationwide DVB-T2 platform Freenet TV Media Broadcast launched on March 29, 2017 will thereby get a local extension in Hamburg. A similar city package is planned in Berlin.
The launch of the new platform in Hamburg is planned for November 2017. At the same time, the second stage of the transition of the public broadcasters’ channels from DVB-T to DVB-T2 will commence.
