NTV-Plus has become the first DTH platform in Russia to offer Ultra HD services on a national basis.
Subscribers throughout the country can now watch the channels Fashion One (4K) and Home 4K in its basic package for no additional charge.
NTV-Plus began broadcasting in Ultra HD in the European part of Russia. It extended these broadcasts to the Far East of the country, and finally Siberia, this month.
This has been made possible by optimise the use of existing satellites and commissioning new ones.
It completed the transition to MPEG-4 in September 2016 and four months later secured the right to broadcast in the Far East using eight transponders on the Express-AT2 satellite at 140 degrees East and three more transponders on Express-AT1 at 56 degrees East.
