Live sports streaming portal DAZN has acquired the rights to show all Major League Baseball (MLB) games in the next four seasons.
The agreement of which financial details were not disclosed covers Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
The OTT service will screen up to four matches per day and a total of more than 600 season games including the regular season, the all-star game, the post season and the world series final.
The MLB coverage will commence with the season kick-off on April 2, 2017 in which the Arizona Diamondbacks meet the San Francisco Giants. The live transmission will commence at 22.10 CET.
DAZN, operated by UK-based Perform Group, now has all four major US leagues in its portfolio: NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB.
UPDATE, March 29, 2017: As part of a sublicence agreement, at least 75 MLB matches per season will be screened live by pay-TV channel Sport1 US; free-to-air channel Sport1 will show selected games.
