German satellite service provider Media Broadcast Satellite has extended its long-term agreement with satellite operator SES for transponder capacity on Astra (19.2° East).
The contract covers the whole capacity on the frequency 12.633 GHz H. The bandwidth amounts to 26 MHz on the pan-European beam. Media Broadcast Satellite has been operating a satellite broadcasting platform for the German-speaking market on this transponder for more than 20 years.
“We are pleased to confirm the long-term partnership with SES through the new agreement. We thereby offer national and international customers looking for channel distribution in the German-speaking region a well-established transmission platform with PIDs that have been tuned in for many years within an attractive channel environment,” said Christian Fleischhauer, Managing Director of Media Broadcast Satellite.
“It is perfectly suited for new customers from Europe because of its large reach. We are certain that many TV broadcasters will continue to rely on SD distribution to achieve an efficient combination of reach and distribution costs,” added Fleischhauer.
Ferdinand Kayser, Chief Commercial Officer of SES, said: “This new contract with Media Broadcast Satellite confirms their trust in us as a strong partner. This contract extension demonstrates that satellite plays an important role for TV distribution, and how it will remain key for the video business from a long-term perspective.”
