BT has begun the process of upgrading its set-top box inventory to the latest version of YouView.
Over the next few weeks, all BT TV customers will see the new interface, with the exception of those customers holding the old BT Vision+ boxes.
It’s expected the majority of customers will have received the upgrade by June, most likely overnight.
The new streamlined, image led-interface was launched by YouView in November. Cloud-based technology means all the back office infrastructure runs through AWS and wherever possible functionality has been taken out of the box.
Rendered in HTML, the launch time on services such as iPlayer has been reduced from some 20 second on early boxes to just 3 or 4, show titles on shorter shows, for example on kids content, expand when highlighted and MYView, the repository for recorded content, is now MyTV with an expanded role to come.
TalkTalk, which also uses YouView commenced its upgrade at the end of November.
