Canal+ is continuing to suffer from subscriber erosion in its French domestic market, losing 492,000 subscribers year-on-year, and seeing revenues drop by 4.7%.
The operator said new offers introduced in November 2016 had improved the performance towards the end of the year, which closed with 5.25 million subscribers.
Revenues from international pay-TV operations grew by 5.7% compared to 2015. Growth was particularly strong in Africa, where an increase of 692,000 took subscribers to 2.8 million subscribers.
Despite the gloom around France, Canal closed the year with a global subscriber base having climbed to 11.5 million individual subscribers. A further 2.9 wholesale subscriptions came through partnerships with Free and Orange. Revenues of €5,253 million were down 4.7% on 2015.
