Polish pay-TV operators could soon face a requirement to provide information about their customers to Poczta Polska (Polish Post).
According to Wirtualne Media, the Ministry of Culture has included a clause in an upcoming amendment to the law on receiver licence fees that would result in providers of pay-TV services having to pass on the registration details of any TV and radio receivers they own.
Poczta Polska would have the right to demand this information, to which data protection rules would apply.
A similar proposal requiring electricity companies to provide such information was tabled last year but failed to win parliamentary approval.
