German media company Mainstream Networks Holding has expanded the reach of its TV channel Romance TV in Eastern Europe.
Romance TV has launched on the cable network of UPC Romania, thereby adding half a million households to its footprint. As a special offer, the channel will be available to all UPC pay-TV households at no additional charge until March 31, 2017. Afterwards, it will be integrated into the Maxim package.
The majority of Romance TV’s programmes will also be made available on video-on-demand service MyPrime through multimedia home gateway Horizon.
Mainstream Networks Holding, a joint venture by German media company Mainstream Media and ZDF Enterprises, the commercial arm of German public broadcaster ZDF, is currently in discussions with further platform operators to make Romance TV available nationwide in Romania in future.
The channel which targets a female audience is currently broadcasting in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Poland. The expansion to Romania and Hungary commenced in May 2016.
In Hungary, Romance TV is available on Vidanet’s cable network. A rollout on further platforms is planned.
