Slagr TV (‘Hit TV’) has become the latest Czech TV station to introduce HbbTV.
According to Rozhlas.cz, its owner, the musician and entrepreneur Karel Peterk, has sensed the potential of the technology, which will allow for the reintroduction of two other channels – Country no 1 and TV Pisnicka – that had previously been distributed by the fourth DTT multiplex but were forced to close due to low audiences.
Slagr TV is distributed by the third DTT multiplex, which operated by the national transmission company Ceske Radiokomunikace (CRa).
It is currently providing three HbbTV apps, one of which is for information only about HbbTV. The two others will in due course offer live streams of Country no 1 and TV Pisnicka.
HbbTV has already been introduced in the Czech Republic by Ceske televize (CT), Prima, Nova and Ocko.
